GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF HULL
1. Hull is made of 1⁄4" cold rolled mild steel (10" plate) and is divided into 3 sections, namely:
1. TORPEDO ROOM - 18' long - bolted to center section - contains:
(a) Two 18' torpedo tubes mounted one over the other. Torpedo war head 6' long containing approximately 1000 lbs., explosive.
(b) The only ballast tank which is 7' 5" long.
(c) 2 H. P. air flasks, and two impulse tanks.
(d) Torpedo tube firing valves.
(e) 250 led pigs weighing 2766 lbs.
2. CENTER SECTION - 35' 1" long - 6' 11⁄2" maximum outside diameter - contains:
(a) Three compartments separated by W. T. bulkheads with doors.
(A) FORWARD BATTERY - contains:
(a) H.P. air and oxygen flasks on port side.
(b) One fourth of entire battery.
(c) 90.5 gallon trim tank under battery.
(d) Air purification.
(e) 284 lead pigs on port side forward weighing 3133 lbs.
